Multistudio conducted a feasibility study to explore upgrades for Marroney Theatre, a historic venue built in 1956 to house The University of Arizona’s School of Theatre, Film & Television. As part of this donor-funded initiative, the study assessed design concepts and renovation costs to modernize key areas of the theater while introducing a new front lobby addition—transforming Marroney Theatre into a premier fine arts hub for both the university and the greater Tucson community.
Key goals of the renovation included enhancing visibility within the theater, fostering collaboration between artistic disciplines through a shared lobby and "front porch" concept, and supporting student education by integrating cutting-edge theater technology.
Following the study, Multistudio’s Brand Experience team developed a compelling donor presentation package designed to inspire investment. Encased in a custom die-cut envelope with a button-and-string closure, the presentation unfolds in a crisscross motion—symbolizing the reveal of a stage curtain. The primary cutout graphic represents the envisioned connection between the new lobby and the campus’ main pedestrian thoroughfare.
With flexible, loose-page inserts, the donor package allows for tailored storytelling, adjusting content to align with donor interests and funding opportunities. Vellum overlays of floorplans provide a striking before-and-after view of the transformation, while layered imagery highlights Marroney Theatre’s past, present, and future—capturing the essence of this reimagined arts destination.
