Free State High School
The renovation and addition to Free State High School was part of an $87M bond issue that was passed in 2017 to fund improvements to the district’s two high schools and four middle schools. The Free State High School improvements included moving the school’s library/media center to a central corridor on the second floor, while connecting it to a first-floor dining commons with a monumental “media stair”, resulting in a new central learning commons and creating a venue for large gatherings. By relocating the library/media center, the existing space was able to be converted into special education classrooms, providing more resources and a greater integration of special needs students with the rest of the school.
