For over a decade, Multistudio has collaborated with Garmin to plan, expand, and refine its headquarters campus in Olathe, Kansas.

This ongoing partnership has focused on creating a dynamic workplace that reflects Garmin’s brand identity while enhancing wayfinding and the employee experience. Through multiple phases of development, Multistudio’s Brand Experience team has played a critical role in integrating Garmin’s mission, vision, and values into the built environment.

Designing a Seamless Arrival and Navigation Experience

The project began with a reimagined arrival experience, developing a comprehensive wayfinding master plan that connects the parking garage, campus signage, and interior navigation. This foundational effort set the stage for future phases, ensuring that Garmin’s brand is woven throughout the campus with clarity and consistency.

Multistudio’s approach focused on creating workspaces that reflect Garmin’s philosophy of "engineering on the inside for life on the outside." The challenge was to translate Garmin’s culture of technological excellence into an environment that feels intuitive, inspiring, and uniquely connected to the company’s mission.

Crafting a Unified Brand Experience

After auditing existing signage and defining target audiences, Multistudio developed experiential design guidelines that govern signage across Garmin’s global locations. These guidelines outline placement, materiality, messaging, and adaptability, ensuring a cohesive aesthetic while allowing each location to maintain contextual relevance.

A material palette of concrete, metal, and glass serves as the foundation, with interior elements incorporating exposed structures and purposeful color applications to reinforce intuitive wayfinding. The welcome experience in each lobby prominently features the Garmin logo, with illuminated glass panels displaying the company’s mission, vision, and values.

Throughout the headquarters, departments are identified using bold geometric forms, dimensional lettering, and accent lighting, creating a sense of identity and clarity. Corridors and stairwells celebrate Garmin’s technological leadership through large-scale imagery, storytelling elements, and materials that reflect product qualities like durability, strength, and precision.
